E-Ship is a game in which students seek to find and create a business that is right for them. In an “Entrepreneur-ship,” Eagles travel across a game board (the quest map) to islands that represent different questions an entrepreneur asks along his or her journey.
In this quest, students become gardeners, and they take on the title of “scientist” as they explore plant science, including cellular biology, photosynthesis, decomposition, capillary action, germination, and pollination. As gardeners, they take on the responsibilities of planning, building, and raising a garden, then observing it and maintaining it with diligence.
Students are challenged to embrace their curiosity and dive deeply into a variety of potential interests, challenging themselves to be open-minded each week to the possibility of discovering a new passion, gift, or talent.
On the Cartography Quest, students become modern-day Magellans: cartographers and explorers attempting to circumnavigate the globe. Along the way, Eagles collect clues that lead them on a trip to a final destination (a field trip within the community).
The Build a Tribe Quest is the collection of experiences that compose a student’s first session in the studio.
This Quest accomplishes 3 goals to build a strong Tribe:
2.Creating the Studio Contracts
3.Introducing Tinkuy Marka Processes and Systems
On this quest, students use physics to become toy designers. They take on the title of “scientist” as they explore concepts in physics such as gravity, thrust, momentum, displacement, elasticity, and mechanical advantage. As toy designers, they take on the different challenge.
This session, you get to play the role of Earth Explorer marine scientists!
On this quest, you will explore ocean currents and waves, biodiversity on coral reefs, the deep sea, and the open ocean. Even though we are far from the sea, we are going to bring it to our studio! As you explore each week, you’ll be given different challenges that, when completed, will earn you a different animal card that will level you up. The levels are Krill, Octopus, Tuna, Shark, and Whale. These levels will prepare you for the final challenge at the end of the quest: Under the Sea Jeopardy! Jeopardy! is a trivia game, and we’ll learn more about that next time. The teams who reach Shark Level will get to participate, teams who get to the Whale Level get to start with a $300 advantage, and the winning team gets the grand prize. There will also be prizes for second and third place.
In this quest, the Heroes become entomologists. They take on the title of “scientist” as they explore life in the undergrowth, the critical relationships between insects and humans, the harsh truths and beauty of life cycles, and the complex classification of life. As entomologists, they take on the responsibilities of raising insects and observing with intentionality and diligence, like a scientist. Exploring in this way ignites a curiosity and appreciation for the natural world and creates a safe and open place to discuss and face real fears.
